WELCOME TO SEATTLE CENTRAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE!
We are Washington State's most lively, diverse, and innovative campus. Located on Capitol Hill, directly above Seattle's business district in one of the nation's most livable cities, the college is known for employing a collaborative learning approach to education and for integrating technology into the classroom. The college has received national recognition for promoting educational excellence in its multicultural urban environment. Time Magazine designated Seattle Central as a 2001-2002 “College of the Year” in recognition of its innovative student services and educational programs. Seattle Central is a wonderful place for international students to further their personal and academic goals.
Seattle Central offers a college transfer program, over 30 workforce education (job training) programs, and a large international education program. It is also among the top five in the state to transfer students to the University of Washington, and other four-year colleges. It also features programs in well-paying, high-demand fields such as Biotechnology, Nursing, Commercial Photography, Information Technology and Wireless Telecommunications.
As an urban college, we take pride in the diversity of our students and staff. Our courses and programs reflect the needs of our students. We offer a free college-wide tutoring program and a generous scholarship program for international students. Our computer center provides a large number of state-of-the-art computers for student use. It is supplemented by a state-of-the-art interactive mathematics/computer classroom. At Seattle Central you can learn in traditional classrooms or participate in Coordinated Studies Programs that study a specific topic from a variety of academic disciplines. The college's Coordinated Studies Program has served as the model for similar programs across the country.
It's not all study at Seattle Central. The campus Student Activity Center draws students with its swimming pool, racquetball courts and weight rooms. The college recently unveiled a renovated Fine Arts Building. Central is also constructing a new Science and Math building and renovating its Erickson Theatre Off-Broadway.
